We're almost a year into the global pandemic and it should be clear to everyone by now that digital media and social platforms have become critical to pretty much any brand and frankly, any individual! From re-invented town halls to happy hours with friends, digital communication tools have been our lifeline.
Good News - you can take a LOT of what we have previously done in a more traditional way and translate it to a virtual world! Town Halls - Zoom has been a great tool to use for those and an added plus has been that most are now being recorded and can be shared to an even wider audience. Meetings - I'm now seeing many requests that meetings remain virtual in the future. Why? There's accessibility for one thing -- it's much easier to participate and we've removed many barriers for the disabled and transportation/geographical locations are no longer important. I'm located in the Bay Area where it can take you an hour or more to just get to the physical meeting location and don't get me started on parking issues. Facebook Live has also proved to be a very valuable tool for many industries - it gives you a way to communicate with any of your customers/constituents/supporters and share information and get instant feedback. Some of my favorite tools have been Zoom, GoToMeeting, Facebook Live, Instagram, Mailchimp and Survey Monkey! Experiment, have some fun with it, communicate... and wear your masks!

As I'm updating my website to add my work in content creation, editing and writing I'm realizing that I was very lax about keeping samples of my work:( Yikes.. not good. I have all of these great stories to tell clients about projects I've worked on but literally nothing visual.
I got lucky on one project ... everything was still live on their website so I worked like a crazy person pulling screenshots of blog posts and social media posts.. whew..dodged a bullet there! I had kept a nice deck of screenshots of one gaming client I worked with for for about a year so there was some more content for the "Our Work" portion of my website. So, lesson learned... keep samples of everything. You never know when you will need them. And..on that note.. off to tweak the website some more! Happy Travels... As ridiculous as Hashtags might seem to marketing veterans who remember a time before Twitter and Facebook, the younger generation and potential customers/clients don’t. To them, using Hashtags is as natural and common as typing their query into the search box.
To start with ... create a single compelling hashtag for your campaign.. you want it to be memorable, convey your message and be easy to type/remember... think #MeToo, #GOTV and #BoycottNFL. All very descriptive and on point! This will make your branding message easily searchable by people looking for info! What key thing to remember is...all social media is not created equal -- what works on Facebook doesn't on Instagram.... Here are a few tips: Facebook -- Less is More! Facebook posts WITHOUT Hashtags actually perform better! Twitter -- Moderation is good and Hashtags lead to Retweets as well! Tweets with Hashtags get 2X more engagement! Tweets with one-two Hashtags have 21% more engagement and Tweets with 2 plus Hashtags get 17% more engagement. Instagram... 11 plus Hashtags equals the highest interaction rates! In short...don't sweat the amount of Hashtags on Instagram. More is better!! Happy posting....... |
