As ridiculous as Hashtags might seem to marketing veterans who remember a time before Twitter and Facebook, the younger generation and potential customers/clients don’t. To them, using Hashtags is as natural and common as typing their query into the search box.
To start with ... create a single compelling hashtag for your campaign.. you want it to be memorable, convey your message and be easy to type/remember... think #MeToo, #GOTV and #BoycottNFL. All very descriptive and on point! This will make your branding message easily searchable by people looking for info!
What key thing to remember is...all social media is not created equal -- what works on Facebook doesn't on Instagram....

Facebook -- Less is More! Facebook posts WITHOUT Hashtags actually perform better!
Twitter -- Moderation is good and Hashtags lead to Retweets as well! Tweets with Hashtags get 2X more engagement! Tweets with one-two Hashtags have 21% more engagement and Tweets with 2 plus Hashtags get 17% more engagement.
Instagram... 11 plus Hashtags equals the highest interaction rates! In short...don't sweat the amount of Hashtags on Instagram. More is better!!
